Steven Kiggundu a.k.a Kid Fox has mostly been flying beneath the radar, never getting the musical attention he deserves, but his concert tomorrow night at Steak Out should change all that. He has departed from the norm of artistes packing six songs onto a CD and using an album launch as an excuse for a concert.

Kid Fox's songbook contains 17 songs enough for him to qualify tomorrow's Steak Out do as a concert. He has only borrowed the opening acts routine from the album launch concept and will have Bebe Cool, Bobi Wine, Peter Miles (alongside his sidekick Menshan) and among others, Henry Tigan, Bella, Desire Luzinda and Benon & Vamposs.

There is good reason to pay attention to Kid Fox and better still fork out the Shs10, 000 he will charge at his concert. Kid Fox packs social conscious lyrics in his urban songs that straddle the R&B, dancehall and roots reggae genres.

His tracks explore almost everything from gossipmongers, hypocrisy, sanitation, overcoming adversity, Uganda's resourcefulness; the importance of building strong friendships, the rewards of hard work and the rewards of an unwavering faith in God.

And contrary to a belief out there that he is a gospel artist, Kid Fox says he is out to do positive music. Among his notable tracks are Nimechoka, Zinunula, Love is a Good Feeling, Brothers and Sisters and more recently Bbusu, which castigates unscrupulous people, and Africa, a song that pays tribute to our continent.

Most importantly, Kid Fox will use his concert to affirm himself as one of Uganda's most seasoned singing talents, one that is way ahead of the 'here today, gone tomorrow' pack.

His career dates back to the emergence of local urban stars in the mid-90s some of whom he shared performance stages with. Among these were Da Hommies of Bamusakata fame, Shanks VVD and Perfect Generation.

And while most of the stars from that era have either faded or abandoned singing altogether, Kid Fox will be on stage Saturday night to confirm the rewards of patience.
