Benin — Another Edo State government official, Mr justice Ekubor, was yesterday found dead in an hotel along Ekenwa Road, Benin.
The discovery came as the state government was holding a service of songs for the late information commissioner, Calus Enoma.
The late Ekubor, who is the immediate past General Manager of Ethiope Publishing, owned by the state government, was said to have lodged at the hotel on Tuesday May 6, and was discovered dead at about 9.00p.m. the following day, by members of his immediate family.
THISDAY gathered that it was his widow that alerted his relations of the sudden disappearance of her husband, but was later told by one his brothers not to panic, because he knows his where about. Surprisingly, when the relations got to the hotel room, they found the man stone dead.
The immediate cause of death of could not be ascertained, but sources say the man may have died of heart attack. His body was seen being conveyed to the morgue in an Edo State Hospital Management Board ambulance.
Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer, Edo State Command, ASP Peter Ogboe, said report has reached the Command but investigations would be carried out to as certain the actual cause of death, since the man died outside his home.
Ekubor was a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He hails from Igbanke, in Orhiomwon Local Govern-ment Area of the state, and was about 50-years-old.
