An All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) starlwart in Bauchi State, Alhaji Danladi Abubakar has reacted to allegations by some members of the opposition parties that the state governor, Malam Isa Yuguda, is using public funds to purchase cars for members of his political party and his relations.

Abubakar, who is also the chairman local government pension board, told

"Those making this allegation know that it is not true. I want to assure you that most of them benefited from Yuguda's gesture even before he became the state governor.

He explained that the former governor, Ahmadu Adamu Mu'azu, at a time bought cars worth over N100 million for an individual outside the state, but that Yuguda is concentrating on providing the dividends of democracy to the people of the state.

On the issue of restraining activities of commercial motorcycles beyond 6pm, Danladi said it was a decision taken at the right time because security reports had shown that it is at dawn that most atrocities are committed through the commercial motor cyclists.

On the outcry by some political parties regarding the shift of election date May 7 to May 10, the ANPP chieftain pointed out that if any political party or candidate was prepared for election, one week would not be enough to make him lose his votes because, according to him, preparations for the local government polls had been on for almost a year and the electorate know their popular candidates. He further assured that no intimidation would make his party (ANPP) elections in Bauchi since its administration is people- oriented.

Abubakar, however, warned electorate especially supporters of the ANPP to desist from violent act or inflammatory utterances, adding that adequate security measures have been put in place to ensure free local government polls in the state.

LEADERSHIP that the allegation was baseless as the governor was known for his kind donation of cars to individuals and organisations even before he became the chief executive of the state.
