Nigeria: Bauchi LOC Constitutes Committees

Bauchi State Local Organising Committee of the Nigeria 2009 U-17 World Cup has constituted seven different committees to ensure the successful hosting of the FIFA's visit to the state, scheduled for May 20.
The Chairman of the State Football Association, Alhaji Aminu Maigari, who is also heading the sub-seat, revealed this to Leadership Sports in Bauchi where he said the state is making all the necessary arrangements to ensure a hitch-free visit of the FIFA team, expected to arrive the state capital on Tuesday next week.
"We don't want to take chances, hence our decision to form such committees to ensure that the necessary corrections are made before the official visit of the FIFA team that will be arriving the country next week. We have since visited all the designated venues to be visited by the FIFA team, and we have noticed all the corrections and are going to work on it. We want a situation wereby all the stakeholders in sports circle and all well wishers will contribute towards the successful hosting of the FIFA team, under the leadership of Mr Jack Warner", he said.
He explained that the committees are Media/mobilization, headed by Senior Special Assistant on Sports, Alhaji Abba Abdulmumeen, Medical headed by the Chief Medical Director of the Specialist Hospital Bauchi, Technical/Training pitches headed by Atikuye Aliyu, while Ceremonial/Protocol is under the Chairman Sports Commission, Alhaji Ibrahim Baraya.

Others are Accommodation committee, which will liase with hoteliers in the state, under the chairmanship of the Director of Sports, Alhaji Haruna Bako, Security Committee will be under the leadership of the Police representative and the Power point committee which is headed by Danlami Garba Zigalo.
Alhaji Aminu Maigari charged members of the committees to discharge their functions judiciously, as government is not ready to compromise with substandard work. He assured that immediately his committee receives the blessing of the state government, they would work tirelessly to ensure the satisfaction of the FIFA team while in the state.
He then urged sportswriters in the state to play a vital role towards the successful visit of the officials of the world soccer governing body, as the best way to protect the interest of the state and the country in general.
