THE Rivers State Government says it has concluded arrangement to establish three agricultural farms in the three senatorial districts of the state, as part of the Sustainable Development Programme of the present administration.

The government said it plans to put more food on the table of the people of the state and all those who live and do business in the state.

Commissioner for Information Mr. Ogbonna Nwuke, disclosed in Port Harcourt while briefing correspondents on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting , stating, "the measure would go a long way to ameliorate the food difficulty that is being envisaged round the world.

Nwuke explained that the farms would be located in the Ogoni areas, and Etche axis of the state, while the site for the third farm would be made public as soon as an appropriate place is identified to house the farm in the senatorial district.

The Council resolved that local content would be given adequate attention in the state such that any contractor undertaking any job in the state, must comply with the procedure.

"The implication is that we are insisting that any contractor who is doing business on Rivers soil, must utilize our people and we said the minimum would be 20 percent of the contract must be local content", Nwuke said.

On education the commissioner said council agreed that funds meant for Rivers students on scholarship would now be paid directly into their personal accounts in Banks to minimize fraud, and also ensure that those who deserved to have access to such funds get it.

In another developement, Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State has urged Nigerians to endeavour to keep the vows they make to God, after their requests have been granted so as not to be seen as being unfaithful to God.

Amaechi who received the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, in Port Harcourt, observed that those who do not keep their vows could be like Saul in the Bible, whose crown was taken away because he disobeyed God.

He praised Adeboye for his prayers and assurances and explained that the prayers and assurances encouraged him to keep up the struggle for the governorship, inspite of all the overtures made to him and the temptations he faced during the period.

"I would have given up the struggle, if men of God had not told me that I would be the governor", of Rivers State, he said.. Amaechi appealed to Adeboye to bring the Holy Ghost crusade to Port Harcourt , at least once a year, assuring that as individuals, and not as a government, he and some of his friends were prepared to support the crusade.
