MINISTER of the Federal Capital Territory Administration {FCTA}, Dr. Aliyu Modibbo Umar has urged the former Minister of the FCTA, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai to exhibit the tenets of a good Moslem, rather than lie and deceive Nigerians having sworn to an oath with the holy Quran.
The Minister who described himself as one who admits wrong when it has been done, said he demonstrates remorse and make amend, just as he said he was not that kind of Moslem who places his hands on the sacred book, still face the people and twist information and issues.
A statement signed by Dr. Modibbo Umar's Senior Special Assistant, Communications, Diran Onifade in Abuja yesterday said, â Å"If it is okay for some adherents of the religion of piety to place their hands on the sacred text and, as we say, still do bold-face and gra-gra, FCT Minister, Dr. Aliyu Modibbo Umar is not that kind of Muslim.
When he finds wrong has been done, he admits it, demonstrates remorse and makes amend. He is a people leader not a gang leader. That is why life in Abuja has been devoid of avoidable tension since, by Allahâ â„¢s design, he became the FCT Minister .
The Minister who reiterated that plot 1613, Cadastral Zone, Asokoro belonging to the wife of the immediate past National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party {PDP}, Dr. Marian Amadu Ali was demolished error, said "the latest excuse resorted to by Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, at the Senate Public Hearing on the FCT, that a 20 metre right of way is required around water pipes is not correct.
|
"It is a cover up rule written a year in retrospect to fool the distinguished senators and diminish the intelligence of Nigerians now that the world has found out that the concocted reason for the demolition has failed the test of hard truth.
FCT Water Board engineers explained sufficiently to journalists on the site of the demolition that there is adequate clearance for the water lines adjourning the property in question.
The fact on the ground is that Ali's house is not in the way of any water line. Even as we speak, a number of neighbouring houses are right on top of two trunk pipes. Why were they spared while Ali's house several meters away was pulled down?
