FOUR people accused of embezzling more than N$700 000 from the Keetmanshoop Town Council appeared in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate's Court again this week.

Charged with fraud, the four were not asked to plead and their case was postponed until July 11 for further Police investigation.

They are Tommy Coleman, Ingrid Coleman, Hendrik Veldskoen and Reanette April.

Two of the accused, Tommy Coleman and Ingrid Coleman, are council employees.

Tommy Coleman allegedly siphoned off the money between January and July last year.

He allegedly withheld cash when making the municipality's bank deposits and only deposited cheques.

April and Veldskoen were added to the case because some of the money was allegedly deposited into their accounts on several occasions.

The Namibian was unable to establish why Ingrid Coleman was added to the fraud case.

All four remain free on bail.

A former council employee, Neville Hupita, also made a brief appearance in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate's Court on a charge of theft.

It is alleged that Hupita stole building material from the Build Together housing programme.

Hupita's case was postponed until August 8 for plea and trial.
