Allan Makaka will make a return to seven-a-side rugby after nearly two years when Kenya's Shujaa play Maroc Scolaire in Tanger, Morocco on Friday.

The Kenya Harlequin FC flier was injured during the last Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia. Makaka said it was good to be back in the national team.

"Training is much more intense and there are many new faces," Makaka said.

Wilson K'Opondo (Mean Machine), Samuel Wefwafwa, who recently moved to Kenya Commercial Bank from Impala, and Mwamba forwards Paul Oketch and George Mbaye, will also make their debut for Shujaa.

The team was selected by coach Benjamin Ayimba after an intensive training session last Wednesday at Brookhouse School.

"We have exciting young players who will play alongside experienced hands. The aim is to have a look at some of the players in tournament conditions," Ayimba said.

Impala utility player Brian Nyikuli has been named captain with Strathmore University scrum-half Philip Moturi as his assistant.

Richard Omwela, the Kenya Rugby Football Union chairman, said the tournament, organised by the Africa Rugby Confederation, would be a good build-up for the players as they prepare for the next two tournaments of the International Rugby Sevens World Series in England and Scotland.

Three other teams - Tunisia, South Africa and Zimbabwe - will use the tournament to prepare for this year's Tusker Safari Sevens from June 20 to 22.

Twelve teams are in Tanger. Kenya has been placed in Pool C with Senegal, Sud Ouest Ovalie Seven and Maroc Scolaire.

Pool 'A' has top seeds France, South Africa, Zimbabwe and AR Tanger while teams in Pool B are Tunisia, Cote d'Ivoire, CO Casablanca and Maroc Universite.
