Public Service minister Dalmus Otieno has asked the US to review travel advisories against Kenya.
He said the move will help revive the tourism industry which was brought to its kneels by the January mayhem.
The minister was speaking in Mombasa on Wednesday after welcoming guests aboard a US Navy ship, USS Momsen, which is said to be the most advanced electronically in the world.
The navy ship is on a three-day visit to Mombasa to allow 300 sailors aboard time off after almost three months at sea.
Speaking at the function, US Ambassador Michael Ranneberger said the relationship between his country and Kenya would depend on the success of the coalition government.
However, the envoy expressed optimism that the agreement between the two coalition partners would last.
He said his government did not favour any individual in the coalition.
"The two parties are now one and we see them as such," he said.

"Kenyans must give reconciliation a chance and return this country back to its path of growth," he said.
The Government has started settling families uprooted from their homes with calls for reconcialition.
The sailors are expected to hold a joint training with their Kenyan counterparts.
