A wheelbarrow pusher Momoh Sesay has been arrested with one hundred and twenty two (122) short guns and AK 47 cartridges along Dambala Road in Bo.

Eyewitness said Sesay was pushing an overloaded handcart with assorted cartons of items when suddenly one of the cartons dropped ajar, exposing the cartridges.

It could be recalled that by end of 2007 the UN development agency, UNDP expended up to US$ 2,916,788.28 on its arms for development programme, noting that "although the demobilization and disarmament process, organized by the government and UN peacekeepers, took over 30,000 weapons away from ex-combatants of all factions and organized their re-training and community reintegration, there were many small arms still floating around in the various communities." Police officer 10626 Keita ABS effected his arrest.

Momoh and other police officers went in search of the owner of the luggage to no avail. The cart pusher was later taken to the Bo police station where the other cartons containing cigarettes, batteries and sweets were inspected.

Superintendent Joseph Momoh Gevao has ordered for an immediate investigation into the matter.

Until press time the identity of the owner of the luggage has not been revealed by the cart pusher.
