Ahead of the re-run governorship election in Sokoto state, former Governor, Aliyu Wamakko yesterday said he was not deterred by the recent insinuations by Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) that he has been disqualified, pointing out that it was merely orchestrated by his detractors to create confusion in the state.

He also said the recent onslaught against DPP is a battle against evil, dictatorship and arbitrariness, adding that his refusal to marry Bafarawa's sister brought him into collission with the former governor.

Addressing party supporters, while flagging off his gubernatorial campaign in Gwadabawa local government council yesterday, Wamakko said the ongoing tussle between the People's Democratic Party ( PDP) and DPP is a battle against falsehood and arbitrariness of the past.

He averred that he has no grudge against Bafarawa as claimed by his detractors, adding that his only offence was his refusal to marry his sister and to agree with his plan of turbaning his father as an Emir. "My problem with Bafarawa has to do with my refusal to marry his sister .I told him that I am not interested in marriage and this created animosity between us. He believed because of my refusal to marry his sister and endorse his father as Emir, that I hate him. So, that is why he is after me in the last two years", he averred. He thanked the people of the area for their overwhelming support to his candidature, assuring them that he would continue with all the programmes designed by his government for the wellbeing of the state and its people.

In his remarks, the acting Governor, Alhaji Balarabe Salame assured the people that gathered at the ceremony that PDP government would recover all their stolen fund.

According to the Governor, the state government would not allow those people that diverted funds meant for the people of the state to go scot free ,saying there is a law recently passed to that effect.

He charged the people of the state to remain prayefull and come out en-mass to vote for Wamakko during the re-run election.
