BY donating blood, you can save many lives, Speaker of Parliament Edward Sekandi told MPs.

He was on Wednesday reacting to a report by Gomba MP Rosemary Najjemba on the death of a councillor from Kabulasoke in Mpigi district.

"I appeal to MPs to donate blood. I have donated 10 times," Ssekandi said.

Najjemba said the local leader died because there was neither blood nor an ambulance at Gombe Hospital.

She explained that the councillor had an accident and was rushed to the hospital but he needed blood, which was not available.

"With no ambulance at Gombe Hospital, it took three hours to transport the patient to Nsambya Hospital in Kampala but he died on the way."

Meanwhile, Alice Alaso (FDC Soroti Woman), appealed to the Government to assist the victims of a storm last month that damaged several schools, a Uganda Broadcasting Corporation radio mast and residential houses in the municipality.
