Incumbent Miss University, Khadijatu Sall is planning a dinner and fashion show to raise money for street children at the Old Skool Nite Club tomorrow.
Sall fed more than fifty street kids at Sweissy area last month.
She appealed to well-meaning Sierra Leoneans to support her project by attending the programme as it will go a very long way to better the lives of the beneficiaries of the event.
"I think when someone is trying to spearhead a move that would have direct meaningful impact on the lives of young Sierra Leoneans, it is the cooperation of other Sierra Leoneans through their support, that would make the programme be successful. I am quite optimistic that people will turn up to grace the occasion," she said with mild confidence.
The former Miss Margai said she wants the general public to help her wipe the tears on the faces of the less-privileged and instead, put smiles on their faces so that they will have a sense of belonging and later help in building a better Sierra Leone.
The second year student of the Milton Margai College of Education and Technology (MMCET) said though it has not been easy for her to combine her newly-acquired status with her studies, she has been coping well.
"It has not been easy with my studies but I've been trying to manage the situation. To be honest with you, it has not been easy at all," she said.
Ever since she became the beauty queen, Sall said she had stopped 'certain things she used to do before.' "For now, I have reduced my hanging out and I have also become very cautious of the kind of friends I go out - all because of my new status," the ever-smiling Khadijatu Sall said.
Though it is not that she is scared of going into friendships, Sall said she recently got to know that while some of her friends praise her, some are bent to see her fall. "But I always try to befriend everyone that comes around me especially those that I know do not really feel good about me," she said.
Talking about friends, Sall is meeting her counterpart from Liberia for the first time. Bendu Parker, the newly-crowned Miss Liberia who has been in Freetown to make arrangement for her pet project, will be together with Sall throughout her stay which will end on Sunday.
In an earlier chat with Parker in Monrovia last week, she has been on the look out to meet Sall as she has heard a lot about. Parker will be gracing the fundraising dinner and fashion show scheduled to start at 7pm.
