Kampala — Men are to be separated from boys when Guinness Super 8 Rugby League champions utl Kobs lock horns with the title hungry G4S Pirates at Kampala Rugby Football Club (KRFC) today.

The Kobs are chasing their third straight title but the Pirates are determined not to let them coast at a canter.

The day's activities will culminate with the annual Uganda Rugby Union (URU) awards at Imperial Royale Hotel.

Cranes skipper Adrian Bukenya, vice captain Timothy Mudoola, Robert Sseguya and the sensational Felix Lubega are favourites for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.

Kobs coach Fred Mudoola is aiming for the title in his first season in charge and is upbeat about his chances.

"I have no injury worries at all. All we need to do is to play the way Kobs are known to play," Mudoola who has won four trophies as Namilyango College tactician told Saturday Monitor after the team's last training session.

Kobs' hopes rest with team captain Bukenya who has made 10 tries this season, fly-half Edmond Tumusiime, scrum-half Tony Luggya and winger Allan Musoke.

Bukenya explained that the team will impress. "We have beaten Pirates before and we can beat them again. They need tries but they are up against the Cranes back line," said a confident Bukenya who has tested league defeat only once in his illustrious career.

Pirates' kicker Anthony Kinene feels it is their time. "Our team has given rugby what they deserve. Now it's our time to reap and I know we can," Kinene said.

The referee will have to be on top of his game as players are known to clash with the adrenaline running high.

There will be three other league games. Buffaloes play MTN Heathens, Cente Rhinos host Entebbe Mongers while Nile RFC face Makerere University Impis in Jinja.
