At least 60 percent of areas with landmines planted in Angolan territory will be cleared until August this year. This has been announced by the head of the National Institute of Deminig (Inad), Leonardo Severiono Sapalo.

Speaking at the closing of the national meeting of the managing board of the institution, he said the demining process is taking place in a rapid way, due to the engagement of the sappers, the Angolan Army and non-governmental organisations.

That entity said that all mentioned areas will be demined before the holding of the next legislative elections set for September 2008.
