Menongue — More than 1,300 people died of malaria, diarrhoea and respiratory infections in the nine hospitals of the districts of Angolan South-Eastern Kuando Kubango province last year.
The information was released by the head of the department of statistics of the province, Manuel Kalulemi, who added that 115,840 patients were consulted, having 18,017 been interned.
According to Manuel Kalulemi, of the said figure, 589 died of malaria, with Menongue with 506 deaths, Mavinga (22), Calai (12), Kuito Kuanavale (10), Kuangar (nine), Dirico (nine), Nankova (seven), Rivungo (eight) and Kuchi with six deaths. Kuando Kubango currently has three Angolan physicians, three Cubans and one Korean.
