A teacher in one of the secondary schools in Kyengera, Wakiso district, lost his job after he was found riding a boda boda. This was after the headmaster found him on the cycle, taking passengers to and from different destinations.

The headmaster argued that this teacher (name withheld) was tarnishing the image of the school by riding a boda boda, a job he said was for those who are not educated.

It was reported that the teacher has been doing this every holiday. Despite several warnings from the headmaster, he had turned a deaf ear. Therefore, when the headmaster found him doing the same thing, he told him that his stay at the school was being terminated because he was not "representing the school in the correct way." "I have warned you several times about your boda boda work. Why don't you listen to me?" the headmaster asked. "Your job has been terminated because we cannot allow you to represent our school like that," he added.

The teacher did not respond. He was later on heard telling friends that he was going to talk face to face with him about it.

"We are not paid during holidays so how does he expect me to survive and feed my family? I am going to face him to beg for pardon. He should find me an alternative job through which I can be able to earn money to feed my family, otherwise I cannot leave the boda boda," he said.
