IT is a busy weekend for the top Super League title contenders as the competitions committee battles to finish the business in time. The revised fixtures, released by committee secretary Moses Magogo on Thursday have retained the weekend matches, which will see KCC, Villa and Police play matches tomorrow, just a day after they were in action at Namboole. The league is now set to end May 22.
Action will continue today when Bunamwaya host wounded Boroboro Tigers, who have petitioned FUFA over their home encounter they lost 1-0 to KCC.
Meanwhile, officials and clubs, who FUFA imposed fines for various cases, have ignored the penalty. The competitions committee in February suspended and fined five Super League coaches and two other officials.
Seven clubs were also punished in what was the biggest disciplinary crack-down the federation has pronounced so far.
But Magogo said this week that only URA coach Moses Basena has paid his sh0.1m fine. "The response to the fines has been very poor. I would insist these people are forced to pay but the committee may decide on bans, I don't know," he explained.
The committee is sitting soon to decide on how to recover the fines after the deadline expired on April 15.
Basena, then at KCC, was forced to pay his fine before he could take up the URA job in March.
But he is yet to clear another sh50,000 fine handed to him for inciting players while at Simba FC, to abandon a match against Boroboro last season.
Maroons' coach Asaph Twebaze (sh0.2m), former Boroboro tactician Deo Sserwadda and sacked Biharwe coach Charles Namakola, Masaka LC's Stephen Kabolera (sh50,000) only served their match bans, but ignored the fines.
Bunamwaya official John Senkumba and Iganga's Amin Bbosa were also fined sh50,000 each, and suspended for two matches.
Iganga, Ediofe, Boroboro, Masaka, Villa, CRO and Kinyara were also handed disciplinary measures.
FUFA meanwhile, starts investigations into match fixing allegations at the Kakungulu Cup first round game between Simba and Express in Mengo today.
FUFA disciplinary committee secretary David Katabira said yesterday that they will grill officials and players of both clubs, referees of the day and the press who were present at the match.
FUFA, last month instituted a probe committee to investigate Simba's 3-1 defeat to Express, who came from a goal down to eject the army side from the cup competition.
The committee is chaired by Canon Nsamba Bukenya.
* FUFA is organising an exclusive fitness test for centre referee Liburd Masembe to allow him resume officiating league matches.
The referee missed the test for 40 Super League referees on February 17 because he was serving a two-month suspension which ended yesterday.
He was suspended for recalling striker Tonny Odur after he realised that he had showed him a red card instead of a yellow card during the Nalubaale versus Bunamwaya game at Buikwe.
FUFA referees' standing committee secretary Yusuf Kamulegeya said Masembe would return to officiate Super League matches this month if he passes the test.

"He should be training for the fitness test. As soon as he is ready, he will tell me and we hold for him a one man test," Kamulegeya said.
Masembe was suspended together with Festus Kirumira (one year), who was accused of mishandling the Ediofe versus Iganga match which aborted.
Michael Isabirye is another official serving a one-year suspension for mishandling a league match.
