Angola: Female Squad Manager Quits Job

11 May 2008

Malanje — The coach of Angola's senior female football team, Augusto Manuel, quit his job after losing to South Africa, on Saturday, at the final of the Cosafa Cup, held in Malanje Province.

Augusto Manuel explained that this decision comes in sequence of "so much effort done", without the desired success (winning the trophy).

He also said that the team lost the game due to defence mistakes and bad moves of the goal-keeper in the initial minutes of the encounter.

Meanwhile, South Africa's coach, Anna Monate, praised her athletes for winning the cup for the second time and highlighted the performances of Ann Kylie and Noko Matlou, as the main contributors to the team's victory.

She also commended the performance of the Angolan players, as well as the good conditions created by the organisers of the competition, adding that she was quite sure that the 2010 African Nations Cup (CAN), in males category, to be held in Angola will be a success.
