Former Chief of General Staff, Admiral Mike Akhigbe, an Ijaw leader, Chief Edwin K. Clark and former Chairman of OMPADEC, Chief A.K Horsfall were some of the prominent Niger Delta leaders, who visited recuperating National Co-ordinator of the Ijaw Monitoring Group (IMG), Comrade Joseph Evah at his undisclosed hospital bed in Lagos.

The three Ijaw leaders, who arrived the hospital at different periods were met on arrival by evah's wife, Preye, who held closed door meetings with them on the state of her husband's health situation.

It would be recalled that Evah had been hospitalized almost one month ago, following medical reports which revealed that there was need for him to proceed for urgent medical attention.

But Akhigbe, who came alongside his wife, Josephine, THISDAY gathered, had held

Close door meeting with the doctors and management of the hospital to ascertain the extent of Evah's ill-health.

A hospital military source said the Edo State-born retired officer had met with doctors and management of the hospital where he held private discussions with Mrs. Evah, where he was assured that Evah's health was improving.

On his part, Clark had arrived the hospital with some relatives and other Ijaw leaders to see things for themselves as well as assure Evah of the support of the Niger Delta people in wishing him speedy recovery.

Clark, who had a brief session with Preye, also hinted that the Ijaw nation was disturbed about Evah's ill-health, he however, re-assured that Evah was continuously prayed for.

For Horsfall, his visit was a solidarity one given his Evah's role he had been playing in ensuring that the people of Niger Delta got what they deserved in terms of development.

Horsfall, who led Rivers State elders and leaders of thought to the hospital, was said to have told doctors that the people of Rivers State were seriously worried over Evah's health condition, which necessitated the visit in the first place.
