Eritrean nationals residing in South Africa and Botswana reiterated their readiness to enhance their contribution to ongoing national development endeavors. They voiced their determination in a public meeting they held in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Charge D'Affaires of the Eritrean Embassy to South Africa, Mr. Tewolde Mihretab, gave briefings on the objective situation in the Homeland and stressed the need for exerting stepped-up efforts on the part of Eritrean nationals at home and abroad. He also outlined the Eritrean government's endeavors to promote peace and stability in the region, especially in resolving the problems in Sudan and Somalia through the nationals concerned themselves, free of external interference.

Moreover, the Eritrean citizens living in Botswana sent a message of solidarity to the meeting in which they reasserted that they would meet any eventuality and back up national programs through standing alongside their people and government. The participants also decided to donate 1,000 to 10,000 Rands for the national cause.
