AAR Health Services has recorded a 34 per cent growth in sales volume for the first three months of this year compared to the same period in 2007.

The health service provider's sales increased to Sh1.8 billion from the Sh1.4 billion recorded in the first quarter of 2007.

Mr Elijah Wachira, AAR general manager, said the company is projecting to net Sh1 billion in revenue by the end of 2008 from new business compared to last year's Sh500 million.

Mr Wachira spoke during the launch the company's new medical insurance product dubbed Cover Me, in its quest to widen its range of services.

"By launching such innovative products like Cover Me, we intend to boost this growth rapidly and ensure that three million Kenyans are covered in the next two years," said Mr Wachira. Noting that penetration of medical insurance in Kenya is still relatively low compared to other developing countries, the manager said currently, only about 500,000 Kenyans have private health schemes.

AAR's new product, which targets urban male and females aged between 19 and 45, is an in-patient cover with in-built maternity, chronic illness and HIV benefits inclusive. In addition, it offers unlimited outpatient benefit that comes complete with dental and optical care.
