The team with the meanest defence in the league Sher Karuturi face a wounded Thika United at Thika Municipal Stadium on Sunday looking to maintain their blanket wall.

Over in Kisumu, beleaguered Gor Mahia take on a Western Stima side that only this week lost their coach in a match both sides will desperately want to win to gain so much needed confidence. "The first thing I did in pre-season was to work on my defence after losing so many defenders from last season.

We have tried to shut out teams even as we begin to work on our offense," Sher coach James Nandwa said on Saturday after an easy training session in Naivasha. Sher have let in only three goals in nine matches to make them the hardest team to score against in the league.

The names behind that formidable wall are goalkeeper Noah Ayuka, full backs William Masari and Titus Shikuku and the central pair of David Seba and Andrew Mbwabi.

But significantly, Sher, who have lost only once this season, have been squeezing in those results, winning three of their last four matches and will be a tough proposition for Thika United still reeling from their 3-1 thumping at the hands of Chemelil Sugar a week ago.

Sher Karuturi will be without their top scorer with four goals this season Ken Wangwe who is under suspension for accumulating three yellow cards. Also out for the flower firm is striker Kevin Simiyu who injured his knee during Friday's training.

Ibrahim Anan, Robert Oluoko and Anthony Onguru are expected to lead Nandwa's attack.

Gor Mahia have gone through three coaches in as many weeks. Sammy Omollo was unceremoniously sacked April 19, his position taken up by team manager Maurice Ouma on a stand-in capacity before former Gor Mahia great Allan Thigo was appointed this week.

"I have only been with the team for three days. I aim to see how they player against Stima before I begin instilling my style," the former international forward who coached Gor in 2002 and 2003 said.

Kennedy Oliech and Habil Otieno will lead the Gor hunt for goals while Stima's top scorer Augustine Etemesi will look to plunder the other end of the pitch.
