Despite the heavy army deployment along the Uganda-Kenya border, heavily armed Pokot warriors from Kenya have rustled about 100 head of cattle in Bukwo District.

Locals told Sunday Monitor that the raids were carried out in Kapnand village, Suam Sub-county on Thursday.

The warriors beat the security of the Anti Stock Theft Unit (Astu) and the UPDF which has a barracks in the area. Reports from Bukwo indicate that Anti Stock Theft Unit (Astu) personnel tried to fight the raiders but were overwhelmed by the firepower of the Pokot.

No deaths were recorded but, Sunday Monitor learnt that one civilian, and two Astu soldiers were severely injured. Bukwo District Vice chairman John Bosco Chelangat confirmed the incident.
