Harare — Tomorrow reggae lovers celebrate the death of legendary Robert Nesta Marley globally.
The prophetic reggae king -- known as Bob Marley -- died on May 11, 1981 after he succumbed to cancer.
Since then, both Marley's death and birthday have been special to both the Rastafarian community and reggae lovers.
Zimbabweans will mark this year's celebrations with a couple of shows by Blacktoe Entertainment being run by Trevor Hall better known as Ras Jabulani.
Hall said local reggae lovers would also remember Marley's late mother Cedella Marley Booker who passed on aged 82.
Cedella was married to Norval Sinclair Marley, a white Jamaican of English ancestry, when she was 18.
Being an inspirational mother, Hall explained, this year's celebrations would centre on Cedella given that they fall on Mothers Day. The celebrations were due to start last night at the Londoners Sports Club in Strathaven Shopping Centre in Avondale while today's commemorations have been slated for Kebab Centre in Newlands.
Billed to perform at the show is Hall's Crucial Mix, DJ Toxic, one of the hottest "Selectors" at the moment alongside Junior Banton, King Kodza, Daddy Distress, King Labash, Flash Gordon and many more.
