SECOND Republican President, Frederick Chiluba has communicated to President Mwanawasa over the Baobab land, which he was initially offered.

Dr Chiluba applied for a piece of land at Baobab but the application could not be accepted because the Government had already allocated the land to another investor.

The land has been given to the investors on title and the Government had instead suggested to Dr Chiluba to look for land elsewhere so that the process to build him a house could start immediately.

Lands Minister, Bradford Machila has consistently advised Dr Chiluba to look for land elsewhere so that the construction of his official residence could start.

Speaking through his spokesperson, Emmanuel Mwamba, Dr Chiluba said he spoke to President Mwanawasa over the matter last month and was currently waiting for a reply.

He was, however, concerned that the matter to build him a house had taken long to be resolved, saying he would be happy if the issue was resolved soon.

President Mwanawasa assured Dr Chiluba that he would get back to him within the shortest possible time.

"I am concerned that we are reaching half a year and there is no progress on the construction of the house," Dr Chiluba said.
