Ondjiva — Southern Cunene Province governor Pedro Mutindi, on Sunday in Namacunde, defended the need for the revitalisation of veterinary services in communes and villages meant to fight illnesses in cattle, ANGOP has learnt.
Pedro Mutundi said so for the occasion of the provincial opening of the 2008 campaign of cattle vaccination and added that the vaccination areas and other related infrastructures should be restored for the fight against the vectors of bovine illnesses.
According to him, incentives should be created so that cattle breeders in communes and villages can get veterinary products with the help of the government.
Cattle are the main economic resources of the region and thus measures should be taken to maintain them among the traditional breeders, as it is one of the riches of the country.
Cunene Province has about one million heads of cattle, most of them in possession of traditional breeders.
