Two men lost their vehicles in separate incidents to suspected robbers in Harare early this week.
A Harare man lost his Prado Land Cruiser and $10 billion to four men he had offered a lift from High Glen Shopping Centre to Kuwadzana while a Chinhoyi man lost his vehicle to four gunmen whom he had offered a lift on Tuesday night from the city to Chitungwiza.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector James Sabau said Cosmas Chapotoka offered a lift to the four suspects at around 9pm on Wednesday.
He said when they reached corner High Glen and Heany Road, the four suspects stopped Chapotoka saying that they had forgotten something and wanted to disembark. "One of the suspects suddenly grabbed the driver by the neck while the other one took control of the steering wheel. Chapotoka was then pulled to the backseat," Insp Sabau said. He said the suspects made a U-turn and drove towards Glen View and then to Firle Sewage Works where they dumped him before driving away towards Beatrice Road. Chapotoka later managed to report the case at Glen View Police Station. A Chinhoyi man was robbed of his Nissan Hardbody vehicle at gunpoint by four suspected robbers he had offered a lift on Tuesday.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector James Sabau said Paul Siwela picked the suspected robbers along Julius Nyerere in Harare while driving to Chitungwiza. "When they reached the Seke and Mharapara Road in Chitungwiza, one of the men said he wanted to be dropped off.
"When Siwela stopped the vehicle, the man produced a pistol which he pointed at Siwela," said Insp Sabau. He said the other three men then dragged Siwela from the driver's seat to the back seat. Insp Sabau said the robbers drove to a place in St Mary's where they dropped Siwela and sped away.

He said investigations into the case are still in progress and added that no arrests have been made so far. Insp Sabau, who urged motorist not to offer lifts to strangers during odd hours, said investigations were still in progress.
