Addis Ababa

The College of Telecommunications and Information Technology (CITT) a post graduate program under the auspices of the Ethiopian Telecommunication Corporation (ETC) was closed after graduating 75 students in two batches with an MSc Degree, The Daily Monitor has learnt.

The college was forced to close failing to secure accreditation by the Ministry of Education.

Some ETC employees who graduated from the college told The Daily Monitor that the closure means they are not officially recognized as MSc holders and therefore not entitled for promotion at their organization.

That also means they can not find jobs outside the corporation owing to the same reason.

"I perused my two-year program in the college. But alls, I am not recognized as an MSc holder for my college has not the due recognition," a graduate said on condition of anonymity.

"No accreditation means no prospect of promotion ahead in my office," he added.

The college was not immediately available for comments on the matter.

The College admits students recruited from the ETC staff.
