A delegation from the Korean company, POSDATA, is in Cameroon to evaluate the needs and conduct technical studies in view of installing digital broadcasting and management in the Cameroon Radio Television (CRTV) television.

The delegation, headed by the Vice President of the Public Division of the International Service Business Division Sales I Department of POSDATA company, Hyo Sean Yeom, last 09 May had discussions with Cameroon's Prime Minister, Ephraim Inoni.

After the audience, the General Honorary Consul of the Republic of Korea to Cameroon, Mohamadou Dabo, who accompanied the delegation to the Star Building, said, the presence of POSDATA officials was in response to the request expressed by the Cameroon government a year ago. Government, he said, expressed the wish that Koreans should help in the process to transform into digital system, broadcasting and management of CRTV television. The authorities of the CRTV had earlier carried out a study of the technical equipment and government's request came following the report. "POSDATA officials have come on the invitation of the government and CRTV to study ways of rehabilitating CRTV television equipment", Mohamadou Dabo told journalists. He further said, "for the start, they are evaluating the needs and carrying out technical studies. The project will be carried out in stages".

The leader of the POSDATA company delegation, told journalists after their discussions that they intend to start putting in place the digital system by July 2008. By next year, " we are going to have the first test mission on the operational qualities of the CRTV", Hyo Sean Yeom disclosed. According to Mr Hyo Sean Yeom, digital broadcasting is highly interactive, ensures good quality and multiple applications on the screen, as well as offers more information making it possible for one to watch TV programmes and news at the same time.

Prime Minister Ephraim Inoni, while welcoming the POSDATA company delegation, lauded the growing cooperation between Cameroon and South Korea. Besides the project to make CRTV broadcasting digital, the Prime Minister also expressed happiness at the Korean plans to construct Cameroon's second cement producing factory in Limbe and those to establish professional training centres in some parts of the country.
