Though Cotonsport did not play on the 24th day of play of the ongoing MTN Elite one championship yesterday due of her involvement in the African Champions League, Canon Yaounde failed to use the opportunity to close the three point gap separating them from the leader.

The Kpa-Kum Boys were humbled in Akonolinga 0-1 against local side Foudre. A score which enabled Cotonsport to conserve her lead and even widen the gap during late Day 24 matches to be played on Wednesday, May 14, 2007.

The status quo was also maintained at the bottom of the league table as Tonnerre also stumbled against Ngaoundere University 0-2 to descend to the tail end of the classification table. With the one-nil victory against Canon, Foudre of Akonolinga now moves up to occupy the 14th position. Meanwhile Caiman of Douala pulled a one-all draw with Tiko united to provisionally occupy the 11th position while waiting for the outcome Astres-Aigle of Menoua match on Wednesday. Lion Ngoma still remains within the relegation zone despite her zero-all tie with Union of Douala.

Meanwhile, it is worthy to mention that it was a pass mark or Cameroonian club involved in continental competitions as all three progressed to the next round of their respective competitions. However, the most spectacular performance of the day, was that of Mount Cameroon of Buea who turned the tables despite the heavy defeat suffered in south Africa, to qualify for the next round of the competition with a 5-nil victory over Ajax ofd Cape town
