Angola: Association Committed to Nurses' Training

12 May 2008

Namibe — The chairman of the south-western Namibe Province's nurses association, Luís Bento, said Monday in this city that the institution is committed to training its members, in order to guarantee better services quality for the communities.

Luís Bento said that the job of nursing is quite philanthropic, therefore it requires technicians capable of solving the big health problems facing the country and provide a service of quality.

Talking about professional deontology, he emphasised that members have been following this principle, avoiding attitudes that go against it.

To celebrate the international nurses' day, visits to social communication organs were carried out, as well as blood pressure check-up sessions in 05 de Abril ward and the district market.

The nurses' day activities programme also includes workshops and radio debates on issues linked to this field.

In Namibe, this association has 331 members, athough there are 600 nurses working in the health sector.
