Huambo

About 2,500 people of both sexes, with ages ranging from 14 to 50 years, are being taught how to read and write in Huambo district by the non-governmental organisation dubbed ALFALIT-ANGOLA.

Speaking to ANGOP, the representative of the NGO in central Huambo province, Eduardo Miji Dumba revealed that the action aims at recovering the schooling delay in various communities of the outskirts of this city, mainly of people who for different reasons could not attend the normal education system.

"The organisation is carrying out activities of schooling recovery in collaboration with the provincial education department, counting on the participation of 51 people and is being funded by USAID", stressed the source.

According to the representative of ALFALIT-ANGOLA, 750 people were taught how to read and write last year.

Subjects such as Portuguese Language and Mathematics are being taught in the literacy programme.
