Angola: Deputy Health Minister in Cabinda to Chair Nurses Day Celebration

12 May 2008

Luanda — The deputy minister of Health, Evelize Frestas, left Monday for the northern Cabinda Province, in the ambit of the commemorations of the International Nurses' Day, marked on 12 May.

Speaking to ANGOP at 4 de Fevereiro Airport, before her departure, Evelize Fresta said that her presence is fundamentally aimed at attending the presentation of a study on the norms of functioning in hospitals and the nursing management regulation.

During her three-day stay, the official will meet nursing chiefs of central hospitals and health centres of the country to discuss about the organisation and functioning of hospitals.

Evelize Frestas' work agenda also includes visits to some provincial health centres and posts, as well as to the central hospital.

On the other hand, Evelize Fresta manifested her satisfaction with last Saturday's announcement by the President of the Republic, José Eduardo dos Santos, in his capacity as head of the ruling MPLA, that there has to be an increase of more than 30 per cent in female officials in the party, which includes its parliamentary bench, as well as in the government.

According to Evelize Fresta "this is good, because this demands a lot from women. We have to be very competent and try to do better, since there is a great expectation from society in relation to our work", she said.
