Angola: Huíla - Unicef Donors Assess Projects

Lubango — A delegation of US businessmen who are donors of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) began this Monday a five-day visit to southern Huíla province, to assess the implementation of projects funded by the UN institution, in the fields of maternal-infant health, waters and basic sanitation.

Made up by eight businessmen and UNICEF staff is led by the director general of one of the biggest US hospital disposable material firm, dubbed "Procter Gamble US", Bryon Mcleary.

ANGOP learnt this Monday from the visit agenda that, as from Tuesday the delegation shall visit in Lubango city the "Irene Neto" Central Maternity, the hospital of Mitcha ward and the paediatric hospital, were they shall meet with staff of these health units.

On the same day, the donors will also visit to children's homes existing in this city and meet with the heads of the local department of Assistance and Social Welfare.

On Wednesday, the businessmen are to travel to Matala district, 180 kilometres to the south of Lubango, where they will carry out similar activities, apart from meeting with local authorities, whilst on Thursday they are expected to attend a balance meeting, and on Friday they will travel to south-western Namibe province, with the same goal.

In Huíla province, UNICEF has already implemented various projects in the past years funded by these businessmen whose investment exceeded USD 50 million.
