Cameroon: SDO May Reprimand Recalcitrant Delegates, Service Heads

Divisional Delegates and other Service Heads who boycott meetings and public ceremonies convened and chaired by Bui Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, may soon face tough times.

Bui SDO, Daniel Panjouono, issued the warning in Kumbo, Monday, May 5, at a meeting to plan for this year's National Day celebrations, on May 20. The SDO, also commented on the absence at the meeting of the Divisional Officer, DO, for Kumbo, Joseph Pepanze Ngwang, and his assistant.

The SDO was irked by the fact that the absence of the Delegates and other Service Heads during official meetings draws state authority backwards."I thought I was dealing with mature and responsible people," the SDO remarked.

He said by opening up to his collaborators and allowing them to enter directly into his office without filling forms, he thought he was being democratic."I have realised that since my installation as SDO, attendance at public meetings have been dwindling especially by Divisional Delegates and Heads of Service," Panjouono noted.

The administrator warned service heads who boycott public meetings, maintaining that he will get tougher on them. Thus, henceforth, he will not tolerate any laissez-faire attitude.

Some of the Delegates who spoke to The Post on condition of anonymity said the SDO was addressing the wrong audience as those absent were not there to get the message.

The high point of the meeting consisted of the formation of committees to ensure a successful May 20 celebrations.
