The Secretary General of the Social Democratic Front, SDF, Dr. Elizabeth Tamanjong, says most government officials who embezzle public funds use the money to sponsor the ruling CPDM party.

She made the remark on May 9, while reacting to the arrest of the former General Manager of Chantier Naval, Zacheus Forjindam. The SDF Scribe claimed that the bulk of the money he is alleged to have embezzled was used in a futile attempt to rig the 2007 twin elections for the CPDM.

According to her, the official reason for the sacking of Forjindam was that he has embezzled over FCFA 1 billion but the Beti- dominated government was also very eager to replace the Anglophone with one of theirs.

She questioned why government did not replace Forjindam with another Anglophone. "When an Anglophone works very hard in any company, they remove him and bring in a Francophone to take undue credit and squander money".

The SDF Scribe said another way to fight corruption is for the CPDM to find other means of funding. "Because as of now, the party is funded by stolen money" She said the appointment of a Francophone as Chantier Naval's General Manager further spells government's determination to continue marginalising Anglophones.

Going by her, President Paul Biya is champion in the marginalisation of Anglophones. Buttressing the point, she recalled that many years have passed by since the president promised to personally supervise the construction of the Bamenda ring road and Northwesterners have been waiting in vain, whereas Biya did not hesitate to create a Higher Teacher's Training College in Maroua as soon as he promised.

Tamanjong also regretted that government is talking about creating a deep seaport in Kribi despite the fact that feasibility studies show that Limbe is the most suitable place for such a venture.

She chided government for neglecting the Anglophone of the country as far as road construction is concerned. She said government has planned to disenclave border towns in Francophone areas while neglecting Akwaya, Fru-Awah, Nwa, Mesaje that are border areas in the Northwest and Southwest provinces. She charged government with ignoring the Northwest and Southwest provinces when Japanese government school projects are concerned.

Going by her, even when an Anglophone Prime Minister is appointed, Francophone vice Prime Ministers are appointed to do the real calling of the shots. Hear her: "When Sadou Hayatou was Prime Minister, there was no vice Prime Minister,"

Dr. Tamanjomg took great exception that Chief Ephraim Inoni, as well as his Anglophone predecessors at the Star Building including Simon Achidi Achu and Peter Mafany Musonge, has been policed by Francophones.

She called on Anglophones to resist government's attempt to kill the original vision of parent Teachers Associations PTAs. She said PTAs are not the same as their Francophone counter parts of APE (Association des Parents D'Eleves).

She suggested that as Cameroon is preparing to celebrate the 33rd anniversary of reunification, president Biya should ponder over where he is taking this country to. In her words, "Mr. President, treat your children without bias, distribute the national cake equitably if you really know that you are the father of this Nation"
