Government has initiated the construction of an FCFA-280 billion deep sea port at Grand Batanga in Kribi, Littoral Province.

The Kribi deep sea port project will motivate the exploitation of ore resources in the country and provide the leeway for other development initiatives around the area. The project is expected to provide the Central African sub-region with a container off-shore terminal, goods distribution from Senegal to Namibia and a transhipment facility.

Besides satisfying the country's need for a deep sea port and an annual profitability of 11.5 - 16.3 percent, the sea port will also pave the way for economic development in countries like DR Congo, Gabon, Congo, Central African Republic and Equatorial Guinea.
