Cameroon: Murder Suspect Arrested

A girl whose only name The Post got as Maureen, residing in Great Soppo, Buea, is reportedly being detained at the Mobile Police Intervention Unit, GMI, Buea, following the mysterious death of her neighbour, Lucy Ngwa Manka, on May 9.

Maureen was detained in connection to death threats she allegedly made to her neighbour before her precipitated death.According to the deceased's younger sister, Frida Ngwa Ngum, Manka and Maureen had been at daggers drawn.

The climax of their enmity reportedly turned out on Wednesday May 7, when the two engaged in a squabble in which Maureen promised to kill Manka.After the quarrel, according to Ngum, Manka who was hail and hearty, suddenly took ill on Thursday and died at the Buea Provincial Hospital Annex on Friday, albeit a medical report that did not diagnosed any illness in her.

After her death, while mortuary attendants prepared her body for preservation, blood started oozing out of her mouth. At this juncture, Manka's friends, who were at the hospital when she was dying, called the police who arrested Maureen.

Manka leaves behind her husband Peter Ambe, her one-year-old daughter, mother and siblings to mourn her.
