THE Kibaale chief administrative officer, Dustan Balaba, has been asked to investigate the alleged illegal land allocations in Kakumiro demonstration farm in Bwanswa sub-county.

In a May 5 letter, the secretary of the Uganda Land Commission, S.K Mubbala, said Balaba should stop developments on the plots for they had not been sanctioned.

Mubbala added that the commission wanted to know who the locals were paying an unspecified amount of money, which was not for the titles.

The Bwanswa authorities offered about 102 plots to interested buyers. The council charged sh50,000 as application fee, sh450,000 for surveying and sh100,000 for the land commission as premium for each plot.

The developers also paid sh250,000 per plot for opening up roads and sh200,000 as revenue for the sub-county.

Mubbala said the land purchases were illegal since the land belonged to the commission not the sub-county.
