The Bayelsa State Resident Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Dr. Humphrey Nwangeneh yesterday admitted that the commission is under pressure from some unnamed politicians and political parties in the state over the May 24 governorship re-run with cases of litigations against staff and the commission, saying they are ready to obey any court order.
The judgment to be delivered yesterday by Justice A.O.Raji in the suit filed by the Action Congress (AC) against INEC over the eligibility of the state resident commissioner, Humphery Nwangeneh to conduct the re-run governorship election in the state was stalled by the absence of the AC counsel, Douye Fidekeremor in Court.
Speaking yesterday in Yenagoa during the presentation of the May 24 governorship re-run election to political parties in the state, the INEC resident commissioner, said the staff of the Commission have been under intense pressure from politicians and political parties in the state with barrage of litigations in connection with the forthcoming election.
Nwageneh , told members of the political parties present ,that the commission appreciated the development and viewed it as a practical demonstration of democracy in the state," we, as a commission, as usual will obey all court orders.
