A traditional ruler in Zangon-Kataf local government area of Kaduna State, Dr Harrison Bungon, has commended the state government for curbing the activities of middlemen in the distribution of fertiliser. Bungon, the "Agwatyap", made the commendation yesterday at his palace in Mabushi, Zangon-Kataf local government area, during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He said that the government's efforts toward evolving strategies to stem the activities of middlemen in fertiliser distribution was in the best interest of farmers.
He urged farmers to reciprocate the gesture through hardwork and dedication in order to increase food production.
The traditional ruler also appealed to the state government to subsidise the cost of fertiliser.
He argued that subsidy in the cost of the commodity, would be of great help to farmers, considering the present economic hardship among the people. (NAN)
