Lagos — Asante Kotoko has advanced in the Confederation Cup Ghana's Asante Kotoko scored two late goals to beat visiting Dolphin of Nigeria 4-1 yesterday in the Confederation Cup. The win saw Kotoko complete a 4-3 aggregate win.
The game had been abandoned on Sunday at half time due to a waterlogged pitch, with Kotoko leading 1-0. Mount Cameroon staged an incredible comeback against Ajax Cape Town from South Africa to win 5-0 on Sunday. The team from Cameroon were trailing 5-1 from the first leg in South Africa but Sunday's win sees them progress 6 -5 on aggregate.
Also through to the next round are Djoliba of Mali who beat their hosts Mangasport 2-1 in Gabon and that gave the Malians an easy 5-2 aggregate victory. Last year's runners-up Al Merreikh of Sudan progressed after beating their visitors from Zimbabwe Highlanders 3-1 in their second leg game and that made it 5-1 overall.
The winners of these games now play the losers from the Champions League to decide who advances to the group stages. The draw for those matches will be held on 17 May in Yaounde.
