The Zanzibar national soccer team- Heroes- are expected to set camp in Egypt, this November to fine tune for the 2008 Challenge Cup championship to be staged in Uganda later this year.

According to reports confirmed by Isles' Information, Culture and Sports ministry deputy secretary Said Shaban, the Egyptian Government has agreed to host the team.

The official said the Heroes' month-long training camp will be set at the famous Cairo Olympic village- Maadi- before taking a flight to Entebbe for the championships.

Thirty people, comprising 22 players and 8 officials from the ministry, Zanzibar Football Association (ZFA) and Sports Council, will be in camp.

The training tour is also expected to prepare the players for other international matches, officials said.

In a related development, the Zanzibar Government has extended an invitation to Egypt to send its national soccer team for next year's Mapinduzi 45th anniversary, which will be held in Pemba.

Shaban said the Egyptian Government, through its Ministry of Sports executive Medhat El Beltagy, accepted the invitation.

The invitation might also be send to other countries.

Visiting teams will be expected to play against Zanzibar and Mainland teams.

The Isles government has recently intensified sports cooperation with Egypt.
