Francistown — The Voice newspaper has done it again. As part of the campaign to stop the spread of HIV and AIDS, The Voice has launched exclusive t-shirts that will have a message on the front and back, along with the red ribbon that is recognized worldwide as the HIV symbol.
The t-shirts campaign is aimed at emphasizing knowing one's status in order to know where one stands and to combat continuing negativities, such as stigma and discrimination, surrounding HIV&AIDS.
With collaboration between this paper and other organizations to be named later, The Voice will challenge its readers to undergo an HIV test to show unity in the fight against HIV&AIDS. After taking the positive step, those who come forward will be featured in the paper with their own message regarding HIV&AIDS, and will be given a t-shirt as a token of appreciation.
The project is the brainchild of the paper's wellness committee and follows the recent successful launch of the HIV&AIDS policy in the workplace, which aspires to guide journalists when reporting on HIV&AIDS, as well as address stigma and discrimination of people living with HIV&AIDS in the society, a pilot project that involved three papers namely The Voice, Sunday Standard and Mmegi.
