Angola will attend from next May 16 to 18 the IV General Assembly of the Youth Forum of the Portuguese Speaking Countries Community (FJ-CPLP), which will new decision-making organs and define the organisation's strategy for the Pan-African Youth Meeting, to happen next June, in Luanda.
Speaking to ANGOP this Tuesday, the chairperson of the National Youth Council (CNJ), Cláudio de Brito Aguiar said that the country shall be represented at the event by a delegation led by his vice chairperson, Kikas Machado.
At the occasion, this entity will ask for support with view to renew Angola's mandate at the Executive Secretariat of the Pan-African Youth Union (UPJ).
Angola, in the capacity of chair of the General Assembly of FJ-CPLP, shall address the session.
The presentation of a report of activities, revision of the FJ-CPLP statutes, and the redefinition of the forum's action plan shall also be part of the session, with the aim of reinforcing its role for the defence and promotion of human rights and for participation of the group at decision-making forums.
The combat to trafficking and abuse of minors, and the fight against HIV/AIDS and the implementation of the African Youth Charter and the recommendations of the Europe/Africa Youth Summit will also be analysed at the gathering.
Established during the General Assembly held in Praia city in Cape Verde on 01 May 1997, FJ-CPLP is an entity that comprises organisations co-ordinating NGOs dealing with youths in CPLP Member States.
The forum is characterised by its governmental, party, ideological, religious or ethnic independence.
FJ-CPLP is composed by the National Youth Councils of Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, Mozambique, Sao Tome and Principe and East Timor and Portugal.
