Tunisia: Khaoula Ben Hamza Clinches Gold At World Junior Taekwondo Championship in Izmir, Turkey

Tunis — Tunisian martial arts had another confirmation of their good health on Sunday, when the young Khaoula Ben Hamza defeated China's Liu Wenyuan to be come the first Tunisian n taekwondo athlete world champion in the + 68 Kg junior category.

The win also qualifies the Tunisian fighter for the Beijing Olymic games.

The World Junior Taekwondo Championship which took place in the province of Izmir , Turkey , from May 7 to 11, 2008, gathered about 795 taekwondo competitors from 84 countries. It is considered as a good test run before the Beijing Olympic Games which are due shortly.

Following her win, the Tunisian champion received a congratulatory telegram from President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in which he expressed his congratulations to the athlete encouraging her to further honor Tunisian sport in regional and international events.
