The mother of LRA rebel leader Joseph Kony and the father of the late rebel priestess Alice Lakwena were among 682 internally displaced people who got iron-sheets from President Museveni.

Kony's mother Margaret Anek and Severino Lukoya, the father of the former leader of the Holy Spirit Movement, would each get 30 pieces of iron-sheets to roof their houses.

Gulu deputy resident district commissioner Milton Odongo told journalists in his office on Thursday that he would woo Kony's mother back to Odek sub- county.

He said Lukoya would use the iron-sheets to roof his house at Bungatira.

He said the committee overseeing the distribution of the iron-sheets was using the lottery system to identify at least two beneficiaries in each village.

"Out of the 35,345 iron- sheets given by the president, Gulu will get 20,465 for 682 households and Amuru district 14,883 for 496 families," he said.

Odongo said the balance of the iron-sheets would be given to other vulnerable groups like those living with HIV/AIDS, landmine victims, child-headed families, persons with disabilities and the elderly.
