Kampala — The November 23 Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting left the country with a Shs31 billion debt, the Parliamentary Budget Committee said yesterday.
According to a report by the MPs on the committee yet to be submitted to the President, there are many uncompleted projects which had to continue and needed more funding. The Director of the Parliamentary Budget office, Mr Sam Wanyaka took the MPs through the report on the Budget estimates for the different ministries for the financial year ending 2009.
"A number of projects were started very late while others by their nature had to continue," MPs noted in the report. The committee is chaired by Mr. William Oketcho (West Budama).
