Nigeria: Please, Pump Those Billions Into Local Food Production

column

Abuja — Agriculture minister, Sir, permit me to use this medium to reach you. With the much hyped food crisis, one imagines that you are so busy that you may not have time to read from commoners like myself. However, I trust that one of your aides would read this and then possibly bring my submission to your notice.

Forgive any presumptions I may harbour for daring to make any contributions to your "efforts" to feed the nation. I do not know your disposition to unsolicited advice, but in a democracy, I suppose that I have a right as every other Nigerian has to inflict my views upon you. Since I am one of the about 150m Nigerians who you are employed to minister to, I certainly have a right to be heard by you. It may not be clear to many, but I know that every individual and I citizen of this country is a shareholder in this enterprise called Nigeria and our opinions ought to matter.
